Özet
Makalenin amacı tasarımda bütünlük prensibini disiplinlerarası ele almak ve konuya uygun örneklerle açıklamaktır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde sanat ve tasarımda bütünlük prensibiyle ilgili bazı önemli açıklamalara ve konuyla ilgili araştırmacıların görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Daha sonra bütünlük prensibi, kavramsal ve görsel olmak üzere iki alt başlıkta ayrıca tanımlanmıştır. Görsel açıdan oluşturulan bütünlük prensibi ise tekrar, yakınlık ve hizalama olmak üzere üç bölüme ayrılmaktadır. Tekrar bölümünde Nam June Paik’in “TV Saat” ve Dame Barbara Hepworth’un “Tema ve Varyasyonlar” isimli çalışmaları incelenmiştir. Yakınlık ilişkisi bölümünde Rembrandt van Rijn’in Doktor Nicolas Tulp’un “Anatomi Dersi” isimli çalışması örnek olarak ele alınmıştır. Hizalama bölümünde Paula Scher ve Abbott Miller tarafından tasarlanmış olan “Damızlık Kızın Öyküsü” isimli bir enstalasyon yer almaktadır. Makalede tasarım sürecinin kapsamlı yapısına dikkat çekilmekte ve ele alınan her tasarım prensibinin diğerleriyle olan sıkı ilişkisine de değinilmektedir. Sonuç kısmında ise bütünlük prensibinin tasarım için önemine dikkat çekilmekte ve tasarımda eksik olmasının yol açabileceği sorunlar tartışılmaktadır.
The aim of the article is to examine the principle of unity in design in an interdisciplinary way and to give an explanation, of the principle with suitable examples.. In the first part of the study, some important explanations about the principle of unity in art and design, and the opinions of the researchers related to the subject are given. Then, the principle of unity is defined separately in two sub-headings: conceptual and visual. The unity principle which is created visually is divided into three parts: repetition, proximity, alignment. In the section of repetition, Nam June Paik’s “TV Clock” and Dame Barbara “Hepworth’s Theme and Variations” were examined. In the section of proximity, Rembrandt van Rijn’s “Doctor Nicolas Tulp’s Anatomy Lesson” is considered as an example. In the section of alignment, there is an installation which is called “The Handmaid’s Tale”, designed by Paula Scher and Abbott Miller. The article draws attention to the comprehensive structure of the design process and the close interrelationship between all these design principles. In the conclusion part, the importance of the unity principle for the design is emphasized and the problems that may be caused by the lack of unity in the design are discussed.
