Özet
Gürcistan Türkiye ve Kafkasya için jeopolitik statüsünden dolayı hayati öneme sahiptir. Özellikle ulaşım ve ticaret yollarının merkezinde yer alması Gürcistan'ı bölgede önemli bir konuma yükseltmektedir. Soğuk Savaş sonrası bölgede etkili bir güç olmak isteyen Türkiye de komşularıyla iyi ilişkiler kurma politikasının bir gereği olarak Gürcistan ile yakınlaşmıştır. Bu kapsamda çalışmada Şevardnadze dönemi sonrası yaşanan gelişmeleri inceleyerek ikili ilişkilerin değerlendirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Konunun özünü oluşturan Kafkaslar ve Gürcistan bölgede hâkim güç olan diğer devletlerin de konumları dikkate alınarak değerlendirilmiştir. Rusya, ABD, İran ve Türkiye'nin bölgedeki çıkarları, çatışmaları ve rekabetleri dile getirilmiş olup; geni bir perspektiften konu hakkında ayrıntılı bilgi verilmiştir. Türkiye'nin tarihsel süreçlerle beraber, genelde Kafkasya coğrafyasına özelde de Gürcistan'a karşı sergilemiş olduğu siyasal ekonomik politikalar, neden sonuç ilişkileri kurularak incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.
Georgia has vital importance for both Turkey and Caucasus because of its geopolitical status. Especially Georgia?s central position in commercial and transportation raise its importance situation in the region. Turkey which wants to be effective in the region after the Cold War period became close to Georgia by means of good neighboring policy. In this context Turkey Georgia bilateral relation has been examined in this study. Our study is reviewed according to above mentioned points. Caucasus and Georgia, which build the core of the subject, are evaluated considering locations of other states that have political influence on the area. The subject is presented with a wide perspective including the benefits and conflicts of Russia, USA, Iran and Turkey?s politics in Caucasus and Georgia throughout the history, is investigated with a reason result approach.
