| dc.description.abstract | "Kültürlerarası İletişim Aracı Olarak Semboller ve Sarmal Form" adlı bu çalışma, semboller üzerinde bir araştırma olarak planlanmıştır. Kelime anlamına bakıldığında sembol yine belirli bir anlam verebilmek için kullanılan bir olgu, varlık ya da şekildir. İnsanoğlu tarih boyunca geometrik şekiller kullanarak bağlamlar oluşturmuş, mesajlarını verme yoluna gitmiştir. Bu sembollerin en yaygın şekilde kullanıldığı yerler geleneksel işlemelerin bulunduğu eşyalardır. Örneğin evlerde bulunan geleneksel motifli halılardaki dalgalı desen genelde bir su kütlesini sembolize etmektedir. Bu araştırma sırasında antik çağlardan günümüze, en ilkel toplumdan en gelişmiş olana kadar birçok sembol arasından incelenen formun hem tekrarlanan hem de değişmeyen, sarmal/spiral olmasına ilgi çekilmiştir. Üç bölüm olarak düzenlenen bu çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, genel olarak sembollerle ilgili bilgiler araştırılmıştır. Sembollerin kısaca tarihçesi ve farklı kriterlere göre sınıflandırması yapılmıştır. Semboller sınıflandırdıktan ve sarmal/spiral formun bir sembol olarak anlamları açıkladıktan sonra, çalışmanın yöntemi olarak basılı ve görsel kaynaklardan yararlanılarak sarmal formun resim, heykel ve mimari sanatlarına nasıl yansıdığı en önemli örnekler seçilerek verilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde de dikkat çekildiği üzere çalışmanın bulguları belki antik çağlar öncesinde bile sık kullanılan spiral formun tarihinin ne denli eski olduğu, aradan geçen zaman içinde formun korunarak yeni anlamlar kazanmasının yanında ilk anlamlarını da koruduğudur. Böylece sonuç bölümünde her dönemde, her toplumda kullanılan bu formun nasıl bir evrenselliğe ulaştığı ortaya konulmuştur. Dolayısıyla, bu çalışmanın amacı evrenselliği kanıtlanmış olan bir şeklin farklı disiplinler ve alanlarda ne denli sık karşılaşıldığına atıf yapılıp modern dünyada da sık kullanıldığına ve gelecekte de kullanılacağına dikkat çekmektir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The study titled as "Spiral and Symbols as a Tool for Intercultural Communication" has been planned as a study to investigate on symbols. Upon investigating the meaning of the word 'symbol' it can be seen that it is a concept, object, or a form. Throughout the history, humanity has created contexts and carried out storytelling activities with the use of geometrical shapes. The places where these symbols are used very widely are objects with traditional processing. For instance, carpets with traditional motifs which can be found in houses usually symbolize a boy of water. During this study, one form attracts attention among many symbols that can be found from the antiquity to the present day and from the most primitive society to the most advanced: the helicoid/spiral from is quite interesting because of its recurring and non-changing features. In the first chapter of this study which consists of three chapters, a general study on symbols is conducted. A brief history of symbols is given and they are classified according to different criteria. After classifying and revealing different symbolic meanings of the helicoid/spiral form, as the methodology of the study, we will present the most significant examples as to how this form is reflected in painting, sculpting, and architecture with the use of online, printed, and visual sources. As it was pointed out in the conclusion of the study the findings of the study are how old the history of the spiral form is which was probably used widely even before the Antiquity, and how it managed to keep its older meanings in addition to adopting new ones. Thus, in the conclusion, how this form has accomplished universality in every era and society will be asserted. Hence, the aim of this study is to refer to the fact that this universal form is encountered in a variety of disciplines and fields, and highlight the frequent usage of the shape in the modern world. | |
