dc.description.abstractKüresel iklim değişikliği, dünyanın çevresel dengelerini hızla değiştiren en önemli sorunlardan biridir. Bu tez çalışması, deniz seviyesindeki yükselmenin İzmir gibi önemli bir kıyı kenti üzerindeki etkilerini analiz ederek, kurmaca bir film olan 'Sular Altında' ile tamamlamayı amaçlamaktadır. IPCC'nin 5. ve 6. Değerlendirme Raporları temel alınarak, İzmir'in sahil şeritlerinin 2050-2100 yılları arasında karşı karşıya kalabileceği riskler detaylı bir şekilde ele alınmıştır. Araştırma, deniz seviyesindeki yükselmenin sosyo-ekonomik etkilerini ve bu durumun kentsel planlama ile altyapıya yansımalarını kapsamaktadır. Bulgular, İzmir'in deniz seviyesindeki yükseliş nedeniyle geri dönülmez kayıpları önlemek için acil eylem planlarına ihtiyacı olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda, "Sular Altında" adıyla kurmaca bir anlatı, İzmir'ın iklim değişikliğinin etkileri altında kalma senaryosunu hem bilimsel hem de sanatsal bir perspektifle ele almaktadır. Film boyunca, karakterin açlık, susuzluk ve yalnızlık ile olan savaşı, izleyiciye bilimsel gerçeklerin insani boyutunu sunar. Deniz seviyesinin yükselmesi, ekolojik dengenin bozulması, deniz suyunun asitlenmesi, gıda erişiminin kısıtlanması, susuzluk ve İzmir'in yok olma riski, hikâyeye dayanak oluşturan IPCC raporları ve bilimsel verilerle desteklenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, kurmaca anlatı, izleyiciye sadece bir hikâye anlatmakla kalmaz; aynı zamanda çevre sorunları hakkında farkındalık yaratmayı amaçlar. Bu tez, küresel çevre sorunlarının çözümüne yönelik farkındalığı artırmayı ve İzmir'in gelecekteki çevresel uyum stratejilerine rehberlik etmeyi hedeflemektedir.
dc.description.abstractGlobal climate change is one of the most pressing issues rapidly altering the world's environmental balance. This thesis aims to analyze the impacts of rising sea levels on İzmir, a major coastal city, while culminating in a fictional film titled "Flooded." Based on the IPCC's 5th and 6th Assessment Reports, the research thoroughly examines the risks İzmir's coastal regions may face between 2050 and 2100. The study encompasses the socio-economic impacts of rising sea levels and their implications for urban planning and infrastructure. The findings underscore the urgent need for action plans to prevent irreversible damage to İzmir due to rising sea levels. In this context, the fictional narrative titled "Flooded" explores a scenario where İzmir faces the devastating effects of climate change, combining scientific and artistic perspectives. Throughout the film, the protagonist's struggle with hunger, thirst, and loneliness presents the human dimension of scientific realities. Issues such as rising sea levels, ecological imbalance, ocean acidification, restricted access to food and water, and the existential threat to İzmir are supported by IPCC reports and scientific data. The fictional narrative not only tells a compelling story but also aims to raise awareness about environmental challenges. This thesis seeks to contribute to raising awareness about global environmental issues while guiding İzmir's future environmental adaptation strategies.
