dc.description.abstractBu tez, Han Kang'ın The Vegetarian (Vejetaryen) ve Indra Sinha'nın Animal's People (Hayvanın İnsanları) eserlerinin feminist ve ekofeminist yaklaşımla yakın okumaları ve karşılaştırmalı analizi yoluyla, güç yapılarının kadınların iradesini nasıl bastırdığını, bunun sonucunda bedensel zararlar ve direnişin nasıl ortaya çıktığını incelemektedir. Temel kuramsal çerçeveler uygulanarak, çalışmada toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı ve ekolojik baskının, özellikle kadınların iradeleri ve bedenleri ile doğa üzerindeki kontrol aracılığıyla nasıl iç içe geçtiği araştırılmaktadır. Judith Butler, Susan Bordo, Val Plumwood, Vandana Shiva ve Rob Nixon gibi kuramcılardan yararlanılarak, her iki romanın da geri çekilme, dönüşüm veya protesto yoluyla beden üzerinden direnişi nasıl temsil ettiği vurgulanmaktadır. Ayrıca, her metnin anlatı yapıları, üslupları ve sesleri analiz edilerek, anlatının kendisinin nasıl bir direniş mekânı haline geldiği ortaya konmaktadır. Genel olarak, bu tez edebiyatın, sistematik tahakkümü eleştirmek ve şiddet ile susturulmaya karşı ajans biçimlerini hayal etmek için güçlü bir alan olduğunu savunmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThis thesis explores how power structures suppress women's will, leading to bodily harm and resistance, through feminist and ecofeminist close reading and comparative analysis of Han Kang's The Vegetarian and Indra Sinha's Animal's People. By applying the core frameworks, the study examines how gendered and ecological oppression are intertwined, particularly through the control of females' wills and bodies as well as nature. Drawing on theorists such as Judith Butler, Susan Bordo, Val Plumwood, Vandana Shiva, and Rob Nixon, the study highlights how both novels represent resistance through the body, whether through withdrawal, transformation, or protest. The narrative structures, styles, and voices of each text are also analyzed to reveal how storytelling itself becomes a site of resistance. Overall, this thesis argues that literature serves as a powerful space to critique systemic domination and to imagine forms of agency in the face of violence and silencing.
