dc.description.abstractÇalışmanın temel amacı son yıllarda İstanbul'dan başka şehirlere veya kırsala göçün arkasındaki büyükşehir kaygısının sorgulanmasıdır. Bu çerçevede, İstanbul'dan göç etmiş kişilerin hikayelerine odaklanılmıştır. İstanbul'un cumhuriyet öncesi dönemlerde dışarıdan nasıl göründüğü seyyahların seyahatnamelerinden araştırılmıştır. Cumhuriyet ile birlikte modernleşme adımları, apartmanların ve gecekonduların artması, trafik sorununun ortaya çıkışı ve deprem endişesi İstanbul'da yaşamayı zor bir hale getirmiştir. Son yıllarda artan kira maliyetleri kentlilerin isteseler de bu şehirde barınmalarını imkansız hale getirmiştir. Röportajlar aracılığıyla insanların neden İstanbul'dan ayrılmaya karar verdikleri ve yeni taşındıkları şehirlerde aradıkları huzuru bulup bulamadıkları, İstanbul'dan ayrılmanın duygusal veya pratik nedenleri sorgulanmıştır. İstanbul'un geçirdiği dönüşüm ve yaşanabilir bir kent olup olmaması hakkında bir şehir plancı ile, büyükşehirlerde yaşamanın topluma etkisi hakkında bir sosyolog ile ve İstanbul'da yaşamanın ruhsal sağlık üzerindeki etkisi hakkında da bir psikolog ile görüşülerek bu büyük metropolün bireylerin yaşam kalitesi üzerindeki etkisi daha derinlemesine anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda görülmektedir ki İstanbul gibi bir sürekli dönüşen büyükşehirde yaşamak insanların kaygı düzeylerini arttırmış ve onları daha sakin yerlere göç etmeye itmiştir.
dc.description.abstractThe main objective of the study is to question the underlying concern of migration from Istanbul to other cities or rural areas in recent years. In this context, the focus has been on the stories of individuals who have migrated from Istanbul. Research on how Istanbul appeared from the outside in the pre-republican era has been conducted through the travelogues of travelers. With the Republic, steps towards modernization, the increase in apartment buildings and shantytowns, the emergence of traffic problems, and earthquake concerns have made living in Istanbul difficult. In recent years, rising rental costs have made it impossible for urban dwellers to afford living in this city, even if they wanted to. Through interviews, the emotional or practical reasons for leaving Istanbul have been questioned, as well as whether individuals find the peace, they are looking for in the cities they move to. In an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of this major metropolis on individuals' quality of life, discussions were held with an urban planner about Istanbul's transformation and whether it is a livable city, with a sociologist about the effects of living in large cities on society, and with a psychologist about the impact of living in Istanbul on mental health. The result of the study indicates that living in a constantly evolving metropolis like Istanbul has increased people's anxiety levels and pushed them to migrate to calmer places.
