Öğe The Mediating Role of Burnout Syndrome in Toxic Leadership and Job Satisfaction in Organizations(WALTER DE GRUYTER GMBH, 2022) Budak, Olkan; Erdal, NurgulToday, leaders who contribute positively to businesses, as well as leaders who contribute negatively to busi nesses are increasing day by day. This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effect of burnout syndrome (BS) on toxic leadership (TL) and job satisfaction (JS) in businesses. The results of the SEM analysis, using a sample of 412 participants working in public hospitals in the Marmara region of Turkey in İstanbul, show that toxic leadership (TL) has negative effects on burnout syndrome (BS) and job satisfaction (JS). Al though there are studies investigating the direct effect of toxic leadership on job satisfaction, there are lim ited data testing the burnout syndrome subcomponents on the effect of toxic leadership on job satisfaction. This research is critical in showing the mediating role of personal achievement burnout (PRS_Scc) dimension in the effect of toxic leadership (TL) on job satisfaction (JS) subcomponents.Öğe Mediation role of work engagement in the effect of healthcare professionals' perception of organizational trust and organizational support on perception of organizational cynicism(Springer, 2024) Filiz, Mustafa; Karagoz, Yalcin; Budak, Olkan; Erdal, NurgulThe aim of this study is to investigate the mediating role of work engagement in the effect of healthcare workers' perceptions of organizational trust and organizational support on organizational cynicism. A total of 306 healthcare workers participated in the research. Data was collected using scales for organizational trust, organizational support, organizational cynicism, and work engagement. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to validate the structure of the scales. The study employed PATH analysis to determine the mediating role of work engagement. The data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software. The findings established a negative relationship between perceptions of organizational trust and organizational support with organizational cynicism, which is partially mediated by the level of work engagement. Additionally, the study identified a negative relationship between the level of work engagement and organizational cynicism. Conversely, the study concluded that perceptions of organizational trust and support have a positive impact on work engagement levels. This research makes a significant contribution to understanding the effects of healthcare workers' perceptions of organizational trust and support on organizational cynicism and work engagement. Furthermore, these results could provide a valuable foundation for developing effective strategies in the management and practice of health organizations.Öğe RESEARCH ON THE EFFECTS OF JOB SATISFACTION ON ORGANIZATIONAL TRUST AND ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP IN HEALTH WORKERS: A CASE STUDY OF UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS(PressAcademia, 2020) Erdal, Nurgul; Altındag, ErkutPurpose- The aim of this study is to examine the impact of organizational trust and organizational citizenship behavior on job satisfaction in healthcare workers. This study is also intended to be a role model for service businesses. Methodology- To analyze this relationship, research was conducted on 945 people working in university hospitals. This includes the relationship of the lower dimensions of job satisfaction, which is the research dependent variable, to the lower dimensions of other independent variables. Findings- The lower dimensions of trust in a manager and trust in an institution and workload are all moderately related to both dependent variable sizes. The salary and promotion dependent variable turns out to be unaffected by the lower dimension of trust in a manager. The lower dimensions of taking on the workload and feeling of belonging negatively affect job satisfaction in terms of salary and promotion. Trust in the institution and disciplined work has had a direct and positive effect on salary and promotion. The second dependent variable, the feeling of job satisfaction, is directly and positively affected by trust in a manager, trust in an institution, and disciplined work sub dimensions. Organizational trust has been studied as an intermediary variable; as such, no relationship has been found between the sub dimensions of organizational citizenship behavior and the sub dimensions of job satisfaction. In addition, organizational citizenship and job satisfaction between the mediated effects of organizational trust has been examined, but no significant relationship has been found. Methodology- To examine the relationship between dependent and independent variables, data were collected through questionnaires with 420 health workers working in various hospitals. The collected data were analyzed with statistical methods used in social sciences. Findings- As a result of data analysis, it has been proven that continuance commitment and normative commitment have a positive effect on organizational trust. While continuance commitment had a positive effect on performance, normative commitment did not have a positive effect on performance. It has been observed that organizational trust has a positive effect on performance. While the partial mediating effect of continuance commitment on performance through an organizational trust has been proven, No positive effect of normative commitment on performance through the organizational trust was observed. Conclusion- This study shows that the emotional commitment of health workers, which is extremely important for health businesses, can increase their performance through organizational trust. This model can be a role model for other healthcare organizations and fills a research gap by providing an experimental study of repeated hospital management.
