Özet
In most rural areas of developing countries, people do not have direct access to basic needs such as electricity, freshwater, or air conditioning (heating or cooling), etc. Trigeneration systems offer great potential in terms of ability to deliver these essential communal needs at once since a variety of different systems are available to address the specific needs of the people. However, electricity production from conventional fossil fuels is becoming more expensive every day due to limited resources as well as causing undesirable environmental and health issues. Integrating renewable energy sources into trigeneration systems will help to tackle these problems and support sustainable development. In this regard, this chapter will review trigeneration systems and their application to different communal needs, with an emphasis on examples of renewable integrated trigeneration systems for electricity, freshwater, and air-conditioning requirements. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
