Özet

As it is well-known, accreditation is a short of leadership and quality assurance in applied Science, computing, engineering, and technology education. In most countries in the world, the function of accreditation for educational institutions is conducted by a government ministry of education. One of the most important outcomes of economic globalization is the abolition of national boundaries in the fields of goods and services trade as well as production factors, namely capital and especially high-skilled labor. The need for free movement of persons in the globalize world increased discussions about world-wide recognition of diplomas and the ways of achieving it. The accreditation issue for the universities arose in such a global milieu and attracted very much the interest of Turkish higher education institutions. Actually student exchange is made possible between European universities within the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The ongoing discussion about the impact of different accreditation systems in the EU on the student exchange is of great interest for Turkish Universities. In this paper, accreditation efforts to achieve international recognition for Turkish universities are discussed.
