In this paper a new numerical method for solution of initial value problem for the second order nonlinear wave equation which describes the standing vibrations of a finite continuous and nonlinear string has been proposed. Special auxiliary problem has been suggested and using the advantages of the suggested auxiliary problem, a finite difference scheme is constructed for the numerical solution of the main problem. Some computer experiments have been carried out.en_US
