| dc.description.abstract | Following the elections held in 2023 in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides became the new leader of the Greek Cypriot community. Christodoulides, who maintains close relations with the European Union (EU), is seeking European support to continue the negotiations on the Cyprus issue, which were interrupted in Crans-Montana in 2017. The aim of this study is to show the efforts made for the EU to directly intervene in the Cyprus issue after Christodoulides was elected as the Greek Cypriot leader. For this purpose, the process in question was analyzed by taking into account the news about the Cyprus issue published in both the Greek Cypriot press and the EU’s official media following the elections in the Greek Cypriot Administration. Thus, various international initiatives of the Greek Cypriot Administration, led by Christodoulides, were identified to include the EU in the negotiations that are planned to be restarted under the auspices of the United Nations (UN). However, to date, the interference of international organizations in Cyprus Issue has not produced a solution, on the contrary, the deadlock has continued. In this respect, the study argues that the deadlock on the island will continue with the EU’s involvement in the Cyprus issue. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Güney Kıbrıs Rum Yönetimi’nde (GKRY) 2023’te düzenlenen seçimlerin ardından Nikos Hristodulidis, Kıbrıs Rum toplumunun yeni lideri olmuştur. Avrupa Birliği (AB) ile yakın ilişkiler sürdüren Hristodulidis, 2017’de Crans-Montana’da kesilen Kıbrıs sorununa ilişkin müzakerelerin kaldığı yerden devam etmesi için Avrupa’nın desteğini aramaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Hristodulidis’in Rum liderliğine seçilmesinin ardından AB’nin Kıbrıs sorununa doğrudan karışması için sarf edilen çabayı göstermektir. Bu amaçla GKRY’deki seçimlerden sonra gerek Rum basınında gerekse AB’nin resmî yayın organlarında Kıbrıs sorununa ilişkin yayımlanan haberler dikkate alınarak söz konusu süreç tahlil edilmiştir. Böylece Hristodulidis liderliğindeki Rum yönetiminin, Birleşmiş Milletler (BM) himayesinde yeniden başlatılması öngörülen müzakerelere AB’yi de dâhil etmek için çeşitli uluslararası girişimleri tespit edilmiştir. Ancak bugüne dek uluslararası örgütlerin Kıbrıs sorununa karışmasıyla bir çözüm üretilmemiş, bilakis çözümsüzlüğün devam etmesine yol açılmıştır. Bu bakımdan çalışma, AB’nin Kıbrıs sorununa karışmasıyla Ada’daki çözümsüzlüğün sürdürüleceğini savunmaktadır. | |
