dc.description.abstract | Twenty first Century witnessed rapid advance of technology and resultant extravagant use of technological products by people. Unconscious and extravagant use of technology products rapidly pollutes the environment, where we live. Accelerated environmental pollution, including both alive and non-alive nature which in fact serves partially for alive functions, is most serious problem of our age Global Warming, recently started to be argued, and resultant drawbacks are, in fact, continuum of environmental and global problems created by human being for year. This study investigates the literacy levels of university students in the subsets of environment and health. Students' health consciousness was studied as well as their awareness of environmental protection measures. In addition, their opinions on the effect of global warming, on natural life, the environment and health were investigated. Literacy levels within groups as well as among different programs were examined in terms of following: 1. Scientific Illiteracy (or little level), 2.Nominal Scientific Literacy, 3. Interactive or Conceptual-Procedural Scientific Literacy, 4. Critical Literacy or Multi-dimensional Scientific Literacy. © 2009 All Rights Reserved by the International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference SGEM Printed in Sofia, Bulgaria. | en_US |
