Öğe Air flow estimation via a Wiener filter approach [Wiener Süzgeci Yaklaşimi ile Hava Akiş Kestirimi](Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2017) Yildirim I.; Kahya Y.P.; Sen I.In this work, a new methodology to estimate the respiratory air flow rate from pulmonary sounds is proposed. Previously in the literature, it has been suggested to use the auto-regressive model to estimate the flow rate from pulmonary sounds, moreover, it has been presented that sounds are more correlated with the flow rate in certain frequency bands. In this work, on the other hand, the optimal auto-regressive model order for the estimation is determined, and the estimates from the optimal auto-regressive model and from the frequency bands are combined through a Wiener filter to increase the success of the estimation. The correlation coefficient is increased to 0.71 with the proposed method, which was 0.66 for the optimal-order auto-regressive model and 0.62 for the most-correlated frequency band. © 2017 IEEE.Öğe Expressions of cytochrome p450 family and molecular mechanisms in breast cancer(Nova Science Publishers, Inc., 2020) Oguztüzün S.; Türk B.A.; Yildirim I.Cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYPs) is an important group of the phase I enzymes family. They protect the metabolism of environmental chemicals, and their genetic variations which are associated with the risk of several forms of cancer including breast cancer. The expressions of individual CYPs were observed in different types of human breast cancers. The changes of these expressions of CYPs may enhance the development and proliferation of breast tumor cells and provoke tumor development through activation of procarcinogens or expression of CYP genes that take place in the biosynthesis of steroids, especially estrogen. Moreover, it affects the etiology of breast cancer and they may also change the response to treatment. That's why the expression of CYP has a critical role in breast cancer. Therefore, this study was carried out to compare the molecular mechanism of CYP family members on breast cancer and the distinct biological processes with each other. © 2020 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. An excessive accumulation of ROS alters not only the biochemical but also genetic and epigenetic mechanisms. These changes could lead to cancer development. In previous studies, it was determined that ROS plays a critical role and the therapy target has also been discussed. So, throughout this manuscript, I aimed to review the role of ROS and its associated signaling pathways in the initiation and progression and apoptosis of breast cancer. This fine distinction of the ROS action depends not only on pro-apoptotic agents and anti-apoptotic agents; ROS leads to the activation of several signaling pathways but also on the duration, type, dosage (concentration) and site of ROS generation and change gene expressions. This study will keep current on the relevant mechanisms of ROS-mediated apoptosis and will guide future studies. © 2019 Bentham Science Publishers.
