Öğe Cardiologists’ And Cardiovascular Surgeons’ Awareness, Opinions And Practice Behaviors Relating To The Association Between Periodontal Disease And Cardiovascular Disease(Atatürk Üniversitesi, 2020) Paksoy, Tuğçe; Ustaoğlu, Gülbahar; Terzi, Mithat; Sincer, İsaim: There is a growing evidence that periodontal disease is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. To assess the awareness levels, views, and clinical practices of cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons in Turkey on the association of periodontal diseases with the diseases of the cardiovascular system. Material and Methods: A survey that included twenty-three questions was prepared and mailed to 99 cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons practicing as resident, lecturer or specialist in Turkey. The response rate is 66%. Data was analyzed using SPSS® 18.0 software (SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA). Results: Of the respondents; 80% were males, 98% were at the age of ? 50 years, 59% have been working in a university, and 37% were specialists. Fifty-three percent of lecturer and 38% of specialist received a periodontal treatment more than two years time ago. Fourteen percent of resident, 30% of specialist and 53% of lecturer referred patients to visit the dentist. Eightyeight percent of the residents and lecturers agreed or strongly agreed with the opinion that periodontal disease treatment could lower the risk of an individual to develop a type of cardiovascular disease. Conclusion: Cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons had a lack of knowledge of the periodontal disease and its impact on systemic health. Programs on oral health in academic curricula of cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons should be improved to leverage the level of awareness and knowledge on periodontal diseases.Öğe Evaluating The Effect Of Design And Length Of İmplants On Primary Stability Using Resonance Frequency Analysis: An İn Vitro Study(Selcuk Universitesi Dişhekimliği Fakültesi, 2020) Paksoy, Tuğçe; Ustaoğlu, Gülbahar; Gümüş, Kerem ÇağlarBackground: Primary stability (PS) is dependent on the length and diameter of the implant, micro-morphology of the implant surface, implant design, surgical procedure, bone quantity, and quality. This study aimed to compare short and standard dental implants according to primary stability in bone type IV using Resonance frequency analysis (RFA) test equipment. Methods: Seventy two dental implants; sandblasting with large grit particles and acid etching (SLA) surface (Dentium®,SimpleLine II, Seoul, Korea), SLActive surface- (Straumann Roxolid®, Basel, Switzerland), Resorbable blast media (RBM) surface- (Implance®, Trabzon, Turkey) with very short (4-mm length), short (6-mm length) and standard dental implants (10-mm length) were placed in bovine cow ribs with bone quality similar to a type IV human bone. RFA was performed to evaluate the primary stability. One-way ANOVA test was used to compare the groups ve different groups were assessed with the post hoc Tukey test. Results: Implant stability quotient (ISQ) measurements of 4-mm and 6-mm length implants were similar however, 10-mm-length implants showed statistically difference inter-groups. SLActive surface in 10-mm-length implant group showed highest ISQ value (p<0.005). When primary stability was compared in intra groups, SLA surface and RBM surface implants showed no significant difference, but 10-mm-length of SLActive surface implant showed higher ISQ value than 4-and 6-mm length (p<0.005). Conclusion: Implant design and surface characteristics might be also effective in primary stability in very short and short implants and SLActive surface implants may show better primary stability in standard implants.Öğe Quality and Content of YouTube (TM) Videos Related to Sinus Lift Surgery(Elsevier, 2021) Gaş, Selin; Paksoy, TuğçeObjective: In the interest of supplying medical information to YouTube (TM) videos, this study aimed to assess the quality and content of the information provided that is related to sinus lift surgery. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, YouTube (TM) videos were searched using the search term "sinus lift surgery". The first 140 videos were reviewed and analyzed by two independent researchers, after which 103 of them were included in the study. A 13-point scale was used to classify the videos by low- and high-content. Each video was evaluated on content quality using the video information and quality index (VIQI). Results: Ninety-four (94.28%) and nine (8.72%) videos were included in the high-content and low-content groups, respectively. The high-content video group covered more topics than the low-content group, such as the definition of the procedure, its contraindications and advantages, and what to expect after the surgery (P < 0.05). The total VIQI scores of the high-score group were significantly higher than those of the low-score group. There was a positively strong correlation between total content score and VIQI (r = 0.777, P < 0.05). Conclusion: The quantity and quality of the YouTube (TM) videos that feature sinus lift surgery are limited for professionals but may be sufficient for patients and non-specialist health care providers. Medical professionals, such as periodontists and oral surgeons, should play more of an active role in providing high-quality information by directing patients toward alternative sources that more clearly explain their surgeries.
