Öğe CAUSALITY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STOCK LIQUIDITY AND CORPORATE CASH HOLDINGS(2021) Kuzucu, NarmanRecent research documents evidence that stock liquidity and asset liquidity are associated. In the literature, some research finds the effect of asset liquidity on stock liquidity whereas some finds the effect of stock liquidity on corporate liquidity. This study examines the causality relationship between a firm’s stock liquidity and its cash holdings. We use Granger causality for a dataset of listed non-financial companies. We find bidirectional causality between the two variables. The evidence shows that the causality from stock liquidity to cash holdings is weaker than the otherwise. Furthermore, our findings imply that investors are more reliant on firm’s cash holdings for valuation of smaller firms.Öğe Ekonomi Finans Kongresi(Beykent Üniversitesi, 2023) Kuzucu, Narman; Kuzucu, Serpil[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Enhancing the Risk Management Functions in Banking: Capital Allocation and Banking Regulations(Springer International Publishing Ag, 2017) Kuzucu, Serpil; Kuzucu, NarmanThis chapter reviews capital allocation in the banking sector. Capital is crucial if banks are to be protected from banking risks. In order to ensure financial stability in the banking sector, banking regulators demand that banks hold sufficient capital to support their risks. The Basel Capital Accords, which aim to enhance the risk management functions of banks and to strengthen the stability of the international banking system, have introduced a common regulation framework for the capital allocation. They are international guidelines to encourage convergence toward common standards in the banking sector. The Basel Capital Accords have evolved over time because of the growth of international risks.Öğe Regulating Financial Markets After the Global Crisis(Springer International Publishing Ag, 2017) Kuzucu, NarmanThe global financial crisis was the most severe international economic crisis since the Great Depression. As it was the case after the earlier crises, the financial system was intensely discussed and the regulatory framework was shaped accordingly. The regulatory changes are still in process. The purpose of this chapter is to provide insights into the financial regulations after the financial crisis and to submit some details about the regulatory bodies and changes. This chapter includes a general review of the discussions in the global financial system in the wake of the financial crisis. The regulatory changes in bank capital, the shadow banking system, trading and financial reporting of the financial products and credit rating agencies are briefly described. The criticisms of bank capital regulations are submitted. The effect of both the crises and the regulatory changes are discussed.Öğe What Drives Non-Performing Loans? Evidence from Emerging and Advanced Economies during Pre- and Post-Global Financial Crisis(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2019) Kuzucu, Narman; Kuzucu, SerpilWe examine the determinants of non-performing loans (NPLs) in emerging countries compared to advanced countries during pre- and post-global financial crisis using dynamic panel estimation techniques. We analyze the effects of banking sector-specific factors and macroeconomic factors on NPLs utilizing a panel data set of emerging and advanced countries. Our results suggest that real GDP growth is the main determinant that affects the NPL ratio, and NPLs exhibit high persistence in emerging and advanced economies both for the pre- and post-crisis periods. We find that exchange rate and foreign direct investments (FDI) become statistically significant for emerging countries after the crisis period.
