Öğe Comparison of Death Anxiety, Self-Esteem, and Personality Traits of the People Who Live in Turkey and Denmark(Sage Publications Inc, 2021) Ozdemir, Seher; Kahraman, Suleyman; Ertufan, HakanThe aim of this research is to investigate death anxiety of the people who live in Turkey and Denmark and have the same cultural background. Cross-cultural studies about death anxiety have been conducted within two different cultures. The goal is to fill the gap in the literature. In this context, participants' self-esteem and personality traits were also investigated. Death Anxiety Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and The Big Five Inventory were used in this study. Seventy-four people from Turkey and 67 from Denmark participated in this research. According to the results, people who live in Turkey have more death anxiety. There is negative correlation between self-esteem and death anxiety. Neuroticism of the personality traits has positive correlation with death anxiety.Öğe Examining Mindfulness's Mediating Role in the Relationship Between Infidelity Tendency and Divorce Anxiety(Sage Publications Inc, 2025) Kahraman, Suleyman; Ozbay, AhmetThis study explores the role of mindfulness in marriage as a potential mediator in the relationship between infidelity tendencies and divorce anxiety among married individuals. Employing a sample of 415 married individuals, the research utilized a correlational model to examine the predictive capacity of marital mindfulness. The assessment involved the Mindfulness in Marriage Scale, Infidelity Tendency Scale, and Divorce Anxiety Scale, supplemented by a demographic information form. We analyzed the data using SPSS, incorporating techniques such as Pearson correlation and mediation analysis for parametric distributions. The analysis identified a statistically significant, low, negative correlation between infidelity tendency and divorce anxiety. Additionally, there was a significant, low-positive correlation between infidelity tendency and marital mindfulness. The relationship between divorce anxiety and marital mindfulness also displayed a significant, low negative correlation. Furthermore, the study determined that marital mindfulness plays a significant role as a partial mediator in the relationship between infidelity tendency and divorce anxiety. The findings emphasize the importance of incorporating mindfulness practices in marital counseling and interventions aimed at reducing divorce anxiety and managing infidelity tendencies. We discuss the limitations and implications for future studies to improve our understanding and application of mindfulness in marital contexts.Öğe Locus of Control and Parent-Child Communication: The Mediating Role of General Self- Efficacy(Cyprus Mental Health Inst, 2023) Ozbay, Ahmet; Kahraman, Suleyman; Ozdemir, Hatice Deniz; Gure, GoksuThe communication of the parent with the child is also very important for both the parent and the child. The first people to communicate with their children and try to show them life are their parents, that is, their parents. If the family environment or atmosphere is the basis of relationships and communication, it will positively affect the psychological and emotional development of children and the development of good behavior. Locus of control, on the other hand, is the tendency of a person to perceive events that affect him, whether good or bad, as the result of his characteristics and behaviors, or as the work of forces other than himself, such as luck, fate, luck, and powerful others. General self-efficacy, which is the mediator role, is defined as the characteristics of the parent's communication with the child, the parent-specific emotion regulation strategies, and the belief that an individual can successfully perform the behaviors necessary to produce the desired results under certain conditions. Thus, this locus of control was built on the concepts of general self-efficacy, and parent-child communication and aimed to examine the relationship between these concepts in a model. It is predicted that general self-efficacy will play a mediating role in the relationship between locus of control and parent-child communication. In addition, significant differences of these concepts with various demographic variables were evaluated. The sample of the study consists of a total of 412 parents. The data were collected through online platforms and surveys; the Locus of Control Scale, General Self-Efficacy, and Parent-to-Child Communication Scale were used. As a result of the regression analyzes made in the SPSS program it was found that locus of control had a significant predictive effect on the parent's communication with their child, and general self-efficacy had a significant mediating role in the relationship between locus of control and parent's communication with their child. Recommendations are presented within the framework of the literature related to the findings obtained.
