Öğe Creating social value through social entrepreneurship(IGI Global, 2020) Findikli M.A.; Erdur D.A.With today's current problems, including forced migrations, inadequate education and healthcare systems, environmental threats, economic crises, poverty, etc., it has become evident that systemic social change is needed. Unfortunately, creating, maintaining, and fostering sustainable social value is not easy. In this respect, social entrepreneurs can act as change agents with their social missions. Yet, the role of social entrepreneurship in creating sustainable social value is still in an embryonic state. © 2021 by IGI Global. Based on the semi-structured interviews, website and document analysis, I try to understand the influence of the topic-specific regulative (laws & regulations, governmental policies), normative (selected non-governmental organizations, multinational companies, family business groups), and cognitive (main and mainstream media) elements on D & E. Findings reveal that the Turkish institutional context mostly favors gender diversity. However, diversity is highly politicized in the recent years and the country gets further away from a supportive and tolerant environment for D & E. © Alain Klarsfeld, Lena Knappert, Angela Kornau, Eddy S. As a strategic tool for effective use of the diverse workforce, the concept started to diffuse globally in recent years. However, there are concerns about the transferability of diversity management as a readymade practice. From this point of view, this chapter questions the universality of diversity management by providing evidence from the Turkish context. Findings reveal that due to cross-national differences and the local sensitivities, diversity management is subject to customization in the different contexts. In a sense, the local context reconstructs the content of the practice. On this basis, the chapter demonstrates the need for a context-specific diversity management approach. © 2021 by Emerald Publishing Limited.Öğe The role of social entrepreneurship in women's empowerment: Case of Cöp(m)adam(IGI Global, 2020) Erdur D.A.This chapter discusses the role of social entrepreneurship in one of the long-lasting challenges of all cultures, women 's empowerment. Empowering women is critical for development, and more importantly, it's a human rights issue. However, especially in developing country contexts, governments, international and non-governmental organizations may fall short to address the issue effectively. In this respect, social entrepreneurship may be an alternative to offer inclusive solutions. This chapter aims to generate a deeper understanding of how social entrepreneurship creates social value about women 's empowerment. Following the qualitative methodology, a successful entrepreneurial initiative in Turkey, Çöp(m) adam is examined. Findings demonstrate that Çöp(m)adam contributes to both women's economic and psychological empowerment. © 2021, IGI Global. All rights reserved.
