Öğe Examining the Relationship Between Climate Change, Energy Consumption, and the Financial System: The Case of E7 Countries(Marmara Üniversitesi, 2025) Duran, Naime İrem; Demirkale, ÖzgeThis study aims to investigate the correlation among climate change, energy consumption, and the financial system, using the E7 countries as a case study. The E7 comprises emerging economies including Brazil, China, India, Russia, Turkey, Indonesia, and Mexico, which are the primary focus of this research. The research delves into the factors impacting CO2 emissions over the long term, spanning from 1992 to 2020. Results reveal a positive correlation between economic growth and fossil fuel usage with CO2 emissions, while a negative correlation is identified between CO2 emissions and variables such as renewable energy consumption, temperature changes, and capital investments. The study underscores the significance of sustainability and environmental policies for the E7 nations. Recommendations include increasing investments in renewable energy sources, encouraging the adoption of carbon-neutral transportation technologies, and supporting initiatives for forest conservation and afforestation. In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights into the relationship between climate change, energy consumption, and the financial system within E7 countries, offering policy recommendations for achieving sustainability.Öğe The Factors Affecting the Interest Rates: The Example of Fragile Five Countries(Gazi İktisat ve İşletme Dergisi, 2021) Duran, Naime İrem; Demirkale, ÖzgeThis study aims to investigate the effects of USD Dollar exchange rates (hereafter exchange rates), stock prices, gold prices, and crude oil prices, which are considered to be in financial and macroeconomic interaction, on interest rates. The interaction between the variables with fixed and random effect panel logit models was estimated and then analyzed. The analysis covers Brazil, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and South Africa, which are called as “The Fragile Five” for the 2016-2020 period. According to empirical evidence of the study, it was found that stock prices, gold prices, and crude oil prices are remarkably associated with the interest rates of the Fragile Five. More specifically, in both predicted models, it is revealed that the stock prices and gold prices have a negative impact on the interest rates, while oil prices and exchange rates have a positive impact.Öğe Impact of Climate Risks and Global Uncertainties on Technology and Environmental Protection Stocks: A Study on China(Creative Publishing House, 2024) Demirkale, Özge; Duran, Naime İremThis study aims to examine the relationship between CUM, CPU, CU, and UCT with the FTSE China Technology Index (FTXIN410) and SZSE Environmental Protection Index (SZEPI) using ARDL and NARDL methods. To test the robustness of the model, three additional parametric methods are employed: FMOLS, DOLS, and CCR. The technology and environmental protection sectors in China are crucial for the country's sustainable economic future. Understanding the impact of global and local unce rtainties on these sectors is critical for predicting sectoral trends and future market dynamics. Climate uncertainties and global uncertainties can impact investors' returns and market behaviors. In critical sectors such as technology and environmental protection, uncertainties need to be closely monitored for their implications on investment decisions and market stability. The results of the study indicate a long-term relationship between China’s climate uncertainties and global uncertainties with technology and environmental protection indices. © 2024, Creative Publishing House.
