Özet
Tedarik zinciri son yıllarda işletmeler için çok önem kazanmıştır. Tedarik zinciri tedarik işlerini yapanların yönetilmesi ve verimli bir şekilde çalışması için tüm kaynakları bir bütün halinde ele alan temel bir sistem olmasıdır. Bu çalışma ile işletmeler için son yıllarda önem kazanan tedarik konusu ele alınmıştır. Bütün işletmeler yaşamlarını devam ettirebilmek için tedarik faaliyetlerinde bulunmak durumundadır. İşletmenin tedarik fonksiyonu, üretim süreci için gerekli üretim faktörlerinin gerekli nitelik ve nicelikte, gerekli zamanda ve uygun fiyatla işletmede hazır bulundurulması ve bunların üretim/montaj hattına, depolara ve tüketiciye taşınmasına ilişkin tüm faaliyetleri içeren bir işletme fonksiyonudur. Tedarik zinciri ile maliyet ve verimliliği kontrol etmek için çok etkin bir unsurdur. Tedarik zinciri sadece ürünlerin hareketi olarak düşünülmemelidir, tedarik zinciri ile bilgi ve para akışı sağlanmaktadır. Tedarik zincirinin işleyebilmesi için iyi bir tedarik yapısının oluşturulması ve bu yapının iyi yönetilmesi gerekir. Tedarik zinciri sadece işletmelerde değil hastanelerde de kullanılmaktadır. Hastaneler açısından bakıldığında malzemelerin uygun zamanda ve uygun yerde bulunması çok önemlidir, bu da çok iyi yapılandırılmış bir tedarik zinciri yönetimin uygulanması ile olur.
