dc.description.abstractBu tez çalışmasında tarihi ve kültürel öneme sahip bir yer olan İstanbul Kemankeş Caddesi bir metin olarak ele alınmış ve cadde üzerinde göstergebilimsel bir okuma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ilk olarak tezin kavramsal çerçevesi çizilmiş, göstergebilim kuramcıları ve yaklaşımlarına değinilmiş ve göstergebilim-mimarlık ilişkisi ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra, çalışmanın rotasını oluşturan, göstergebilimin öncü isimlerinden Roland Barthes ve onun ortaya koyduğu göstergebilim ilkelerinden yola çıkılarak oluşturulmuş bir yöntemle, seçilen cadde üzerinde göstergebilimsel bir okuma yapılmıştır. Yapılan okumada, cadde ilk olarak metne dönüştürülmüş ve sonrasında daha derin bir okuma yapabilmek için metin, okuma birimlerine ayrılmıştır. Ortaya konan veriler, Barthes'ın yaklaşımından yola çıkılarak hazırlanmış tablolara aktarılmış ve analizleri yapılarak, metin yeniden düzenlenmiştir. Böylece bölgede daha evvel ortaya konulmamış verilerin elde edilmesine çalışılmış ve yanı sıra tarihsel süreç içerisinde bölgenin semantik düzeyinde farklılıklar olup olmadığı irdelenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractAs a place of importance in İstanbul's cultural history, Kemankeş Avenue has been taken up as a text whereas a semiological reading has been conducted on the avenue in this thesis study. A conceptual framework of the thesis was first drafted, semiology theoreticians and their approaches were touched upon, and the semiological-architectural relationship was taken up. Later, a semiological reading was conducted on the avenue which was selected with a method that makes up the direction of the study, which was formulated by incorporating semiology principles put forward by a pioneer of semiology, Roland Barthes. In the reading that was conducted, the avenue was first transformed into a text, which was then separated into reading units in order to facilitate a deeper reading. Data put forward was conveyed onto charts prepared by setting out from Barthes' approach and the text was rearranged by conducting analyses. Thus, besides the attempt made to acquire unprecedented data regarding the region, it was examined whether or not there had been any differences in the region on a semantic level throughout history.
