dc.description.abstractMargaret Atwood'un The Handmaid's Tale ve The Testaments adlı distopik kitaplarında kadınlar ataerkil toplumun gelenekleri tarafından eziliyor ve özgürlük istiyorlar. Romanlarda okur, erkekler için ütopik bir dünyayı görürken kadınlara yönelik pek çok baskıya ve kadınların zor yaşam koşullarına şahit olur. Bu tezde, Margaret Atwood'un The Handmaid's Tale ve The Testaments adlı eserlerini feminist bir bakış açısıyla ele alarak, kadınların toplumsal baskı sonucu karşılaştığı zorlukları ortaya koymayı ve baskıcı sistemin kadınların kendi özgürlüklerini elde etmesi için gösterdikleri sessiz mücadelede nasıl itici bir faktör olabileceğini göstermeyi amaçlıyorum.
dc.description.abstractIn Margaret Atwood's dystopian books, The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments, women are oppressed by patriarchal societal conventions and want freedom. They have no right to speak, and they have no right to dress in whatever they choose. In the novels, the reader sees a utopian world for men while witnessing women's oppression and conditions under challenging lifestyles. In this thesis, I intend to discuss Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments from a feminist standpoint in order to demonstrate the challenges women face as a result of societal pressure and to demonstrate how an oppressive system can be a driving factor for women's silent struggle to gain their rights.
