Öğe A Case Study of Beach User Perceptions in Sile, Istanbul(Mediterranean Coastal Foundation-Medcoast Foundation, 2009) Paksoy, Perihan; Colakoglu, NurdanIn order to facilitate public participation in the preparation of plans and policies for sustainable development, acquiring the perception of the public and community based planning become vital. Acknowledgement about perceptions of the end-users could lead the decision makers in adopting these thoughts in their policies and consequently can lead to content visitors. User perceptions can become vital especially at beach preferences as cleanliness, safety and amenities are some of the apparent factors that will affect. With the awareness of probable adaptation of beach users' demands into policy recommendations, a case study has been carried out at Black Sea Coast of Istanbul at Sile beaches. Sue has been chosen in this study purposefully as it is a touristic district of Istanbul which has aimed to earn Blue Flag award but has not been awarded yet. Secondly, it receives high amount of visitors especially during the peak periods in weekends; as it has a very close location to the city, people are choosing here most of the time just for the day. In this research with factors about human use of beach and impacts like cleanliness and sufficiency of amenities (showers, toilets, changing cubicles, parks etc.) and the number of lifeguards are studied. Beach users' perceptions are collected by means of a questionnaire randomly applied during the week time. To include beach users' demands into policy recommendations and utilize the conclusions and recommendations, the researchers aim to acknowledge the municipality about the results.Öğe THE COMPARATIVE STUDY OF COMPULSORY EDUCATION APPLICATIONS IN EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES VERSUS TURKEY(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 2008) Paksoy, Perihan; Colakoglu, NurdanCompulsory education is regarded as the most vital part of formal education. It entails that the individual shall be given education for a definite period of time during defined periods. All countries try to ensure that all young people enter working life with a minimum amount of human capital gained through the years of compulsory education. However it is observed that every country endeavors to apply a different standard for compulsory education. Specifically while we are ill the integration process with the European Union (EU), we aimed to analyze the European Union Policy about Compulsory Education and applications of the European Union countries. Most European countries have separate systems for early childhood and compulsory education. The researchers believe in the importance of the appraisement of education systems and schools in assuring quality education when decentralization is becoming increasingly widespread in Europe. Pinpointing the evaluation of systems, the starting age or the compulsory education, the duration Of the compulsory education, the financial support given by the governments and the diversity of the Courses constitute our main concern in comparing the countries in this study. Previous Studies about Compulsory education, Country reports, EU official documents and reports have been analyzed for this research. In the first part of the Study the comparisons are made between the EU countries where similarities and differences are highlighted. In the second part of the study the Compulsory education ill Turkish educational system is analyzed.Öğe THE ENVIRONMENTAL FOCUS IN TOURISM STRATEGY OF TURKEY-2023 WITHIN THE OUTLOOK OF TOURISM PLANNING(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 2009) Paksoy, PerihanThe growth of tourism has prompted debate about environmental consequences and desirability of further development. The effects of mass tourism and increasing awareness of the human impact on the environment led more environmentally sensitive forms of tourism such as ecotourism and wildlife-based tourism. With this increasing awareness environmental concerns are explicitly included in sectoral policies and programmes concerning many areas including tourism, urban and rural development. One of the recent examples of environment being involved in tourism planning can be examined in Turkey's Tourism Strategy 2023 and the 911 Five Year National Development Plan as both of them promotes ecotourism regions to develop nature based tourism. The Tourism Strategy of Turkey 2023, with its emphasis on cultural, health and environmental areas, has laid out the blueprint for the country's future development. By the implementation of this plan; nine culture and tourism zones and seven tourism development corridors, 10 tourism cities, ecotourism zones will be created. Implementation has merely started recently, but the plan is anticipated to be highly influential on Turkey's tourism. The researchers in this study examine Turkish tourism policies and planning with a specific focus on Tourism Strategy of Turkey 2023. The plan is studied in detailed to monitor the integration of environmental concern and ecotourism in tourism development plans and aimed zones.Öğe INTERPRETATION OF NUMERICAL DATA ON THE ERASMUS MOBILITY ACTIVITIES OF TURKEY WITHIN EUROPEAN UNION PERSPECTIVE(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 2009) Colakoglu, Nurdan; Paksoy, PerihanTurkey has took part fully in the Socrates programme, one of the Community education and culture programmes that seeks to increase the unity and integration between the people and countries placed in Europe, in 2004. As a result, Turkish higher education institutions have had the chance to join Erasmus -the higher education associated sub-program of the Socrates programme- all through the academic year 2004/2005 and recognized mobility activities with their European partners. The initial part of this article comprises the common information about the statistical data for contributing in Erasmus throughout the country. In the parts for student staff mobility, there is information on the numbers of outgoings, most-preferred countries and most-preferred subject areas of the related actions.Öğe Use of Global Distance Education Program in Educational Goals of Airline(ScienceDirect, 2015) Paksoy, PerihanRecently there has been an explosive growth in online distance learning which is rapidly transforming traditional learning habits with the more recent ones that uses the latest technology. As establishments nowadays are conscious of the necessity for being more integrative and innovative compared to the past, they question about the need to change management mentality in order to survive in a competitive market. Perceiving human as a value and an important valuable asset, directors of organizations look for the ways of changing of qualifications in workforce. To be able to accomplish this change, they need to alter the organization’s training applications to ensure their own survival. Today, organizations tend to improve and gain from the managers out of their own resources by different approaches. As time and financial resources are restricted the newest technologies help them in succeeding this aim. Global distance education is one of the easiest supporters in this regard. In this study the historical developments of Turkish airlines (THY) are succinctly reviewed. Followed by the current position of global distance education in THY is to be highlighted. In this context, Turkish Airlines (THY) and Management Trainee Program of THY are taken as sample. “Harvard ManageMentor” (HMM) is being used for training purposes in Turkish Airlines and the researcher has aimed to explain how this program is being implemented in Turkish Airlines in detail and how the Harvard ManageMentor program corresponds to the needs of THY educational goals. It was concluded that HarvardManage Mentor supported the educational priorities of THY and e-learning programs by time saving and efficiency. Additionally THY educational goals were found to be in harmony with HMM. For further research, the staff of THY whom has been trained under HarvardManage Mentor, could be polled by online surveys. Based on surveys filled out, the results can be used for further discussions and probings.Öğe VOCATIONAL TOURISM EDUCATION WITHIN THE PERSPECTIVE OF EUROPEAN UNION AND THE COMPATABILITY OF THE TURKISH TOURISM EDUCATION(Int Scientific Conference Sgem, 2008) Paksoy, PerihanTourism is a distinctive labor intensive sector with human as its basic production component since it aims to sell and offer service. As human is the core focus Of this sector and service is provided through human beings, training of the people who will he working in the tourism industry becomes vital. Especially the value addition to economy and provision of cultural tolerance enhances the importance of tourism sector not only for developing Countries Such as Turkey but also for European Union and for the rest of the world. As the European Union Countries absorb 68 per Cent Of the tourism movements (75 per cent Of tourism revenues) in Europe and 41 per cent of the total world; the significance of the tourism sector can not be underestimated, Therefore this rapidly growing but previously ignored industry has started to take its attention to the education as education quality will enhance the service and in parallel enable to better cope with the increasing competition. Among the educational systems, vocational tourism education is continuously changing in Europe. For this reason vocational tourism education configuration in European Union is studied in this research. The study consists of three parts. In the first part EU theoretical information about EU's educational and vocational education programs are Studied. In the second part, vocational tourism education in EU is analyzed and in the last section of the study the Turkish vocational tourism education is analyzed within the EU perspective.
