Moda dünyasının geçmişine sahip çıkılarak geleceğine zemin hazırlamak adı altında hazır giyime yönelen tüketicilerin aydınlatılması amaçlanmıştır. Yaklaşım ve yöntem doğrultusunda ; Haute Couture'un doğduğu yer olan Fransa'nın endüstrisinden, kütüphanelerinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları üzerinde bir literatür çalışması ve değerlendirme yapılmıştır. İzlenen bu yolda, Haute Couture'un doğuşu, tarihsel gelişimi, üretim aşamaları, günümüzdeki etkileri tasarımcıların biyografileri, yaşadıkları yerler, tasarladıkları kıyafetler tüm ayrıntılarıyla ele alınmıştır. Haute Couture'un günümüzdeki durumuna bakıldığında, hazır giyim koleksiyonları, Haute Couture koleksiyonlarının ciddi bir rakibi olduğu görülmüştür. Haute Couture moda tasarımcılarının büyük bir kısmı da hazır giyim koleksiyonlarına yönelmeye başlamıştır. Orta çağın loncası olan Haute Couture, tüketiciler tarafından da pek rağbet görmemektedir. Tüketiciler hem ekonomik açıdan hem de zaman tasarrufundan dolayı hazır giyime daha çok rağbet göstermektedir. Yine de Haute Couture modaevleri, yeni çağın hazır giyim demokrasisi karşısında pes etmemiş, koleksiyonlarını oluşturmaya devam etmiştir. Köklü geçmişiyle tasarımcılara ilham veren Haute Couture sanatı, giysi tasarımına farklı bakış açısı ve moda eğilimlerine yaklaşımı ile bahsi geçen hazır giyim sektörüne karşı sanatsal ve teknik açıdan tarihsel süreciyle birlikte incelenmesi hedeflenmiştir.Purpose of this thesis ; Historical process of the handicraft Haute Couture concept that continues its effects from the past to the present and its current situation, attitudes of the Haute Couture designers, answering what is haute couture?, the reasons of consumer interest in ready-to-wear, although it has a deep rooted history and endeavoring to restore Haute Couture have been mentioned in the research. Intended to illumination of the cunsomers who tend towards to ready-to wear under the name of preparing the ground for the future of the world of fashion by embracing its past. In the direction of approach and method ; the research has been benefited from the industry of France where Haute Couture was born and France's libararies. A literature study and evaluation on the findings of the study have been made. In this tracked way, birth of Haute Couture, historical development, manufacture stages, current effects, designers'biographies, where the designers live, clothes that they designed handled with their all details. When we look at the current situation of haute couture, ready-to-wear collections were seen as serious competitors to the collections of Haute Couture. Major part of Haute Couture's fashion designers have started to tend towards to ready-to-wear collections. The middle age's guild, Haute Couture is not in demand from cunsomers that much either. From both economic and time saving reasons, cunsomers show more demand to the ready-to-wear. But still, Haute Couture fashion houses haven't given up against the new era's ready-to-wear democracy and have continued to ingender its own collections.
