The Effectiveness of a Psychoeducational Program on Parents’ Communication with their Gifted Children

Parents often experience challenges in their communication with their gifted children because gifted children have extraordinary needs. The purpose of thisexperimental study was to examine the effect of a psycho-educational program on the communication between parents and their gifted children. The study involved thirty-two parents of gifted students who wereenrolled in a private school. The experimental groupreceived a six-week psycho-educational training program. The Parent-Child Communication Scale andAfat Parent Awareness Scale were used to collectdata. Findings showed that the training program hadan impact on the quality of communication betweenparents and their gifted children in the experimentalgroup. Parents in the control group did not demonstrate a similar improvement.
