Abstract
Üniversite öğrencilerinin eğitim süresince yaşadığı veya yaşayabileceği sıkıntıları yönetebilmek için stresle başa çıkma yollarına önem vermeleri gerekmektedir. Böylelikle öğrenciler öğrenim hayatları süresince uyum ve çözüm ile ilgili başa çıkma becerilerini kazanabileceklerdir. Bu çalışmada, öğrencilerin kendilerini nasıl geliştirebileceklerini, oluşan stresin nedenlerini ve stresle mücadele yöntemlerinin düzey ölçümlerine değinilmiştir. Uygulama olarak Pamukkale Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi ve Sağlık Yüksekokulunda öğrenim gören 500 öğrenci üzerinde yüz yüze kişisel ve sosyal demografik özelliklerini sorgulayan ve stres yaşantılarında kullanılan başa çıkma stratejileri ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Buna göre, öğrenciler arasında ders yükü, ders yoğunluğu ve gelecek kaygıları nedeniyle stres yaşadıkları ve etkisiz başa çıkma stratejilerini ( kendini suçlama, hayal etme ve kaçınma davranış biçimi ) daha çok kullandıklarını ulaşılmıştır.
University students need to know how to cope with stress in order to manage the problems that they have or may have during their education. Thus, they can build up skills to cope with their problems related to adaptation into their environment and educational life. This study dealt with how students improve themselves personally, the reasons for their stress and the assessment levels of how they cope with stress. The participants were 500 students in the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational School of Health in Pamukkale University. When conducting the study, we have administered a questionnaire through which we collected data from the participants related to their individual, social and demographic information as well as how they cope with stress. Our findings revealed that the participants were under stress related to the number of courses they take, the amount of time spent for the courses, and their concern for the future, and that they mostly used ineffective coping strategies (blaming themselves, daydreaming and avoiding).
