The process of raising a child who has special needs and care, such as one with autism, is one of great hardship for a mother. The purpose of this analysis is to observe the anxiety levels of mothers of children with autism. Although occupational burnout has been thoroughly researched and evaluated in various fields, there is limited research for burnout in mothers. The objective of this reserach is to examine the relationship between anxiety levels and burnout levels of mothers of children with autism. The research sample was collected from 54 mothers of children with autism, who attend special schools and rehabilitation centers provided by the Istanbul Ministry of Education. The data collected from the mothers within this sample are obtained from these three research forms: For collecting socio-demographic data, the "Personal Information Form" was used, for determining the anxiety levels, the "Beck Anxiety Inventory" was used, and for determining the burnout levels, the version of "Maslach Burnout Inventory" was used, adapted for mothers, and translated into Turkish by Duygun and Sezgin (2003). The mothers' burnout levels were analysed individually, within two sub categories; emotional burnout and personal failure, which was then put into context in relation with their anxiety levels. The research was designed as a relational survey model. The data collected during the research has been analysed by SPSS program, and for the statistical research; p <,05 has been accepted. According to research results, we can conclusively determine that for mothers of children with autism, there is a relation between certain various factors when pertaining to issuing burnout points, these such factors are as follows: level of education, employment status, and family income level. It has also been determined that there is a correlation between the mothers' age and mothers' anxiety levels.
