Abstract
Thomas Hobbes, Uluslararası İlişkilerde genellikle Realist olarak nitelendirilmektedir. Salt böyle bir nitelendirme Hobbes'un, barışcıl amaçlarını göz ardı etmektedir. İçinde yaşadığı dönemin sorunları için sunduğu çözüm önerileri, bugün de Uluslararası İlişkileri yorumlarken başvurulabilecek felsefi ve siyasal dayanak görevi görebilir. Bu Tezde, Hobbes'un temel felsefesinden kalkarak Uluslararası İlişkiler teorileri açısından Realizm ve İngiliz Okulu arasında kurulan bağlantı eleştirilerek Uluslararası Siyaset Teorisi üzerinden yeni bir Hobbes yorumu yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu yorumda, Hobbes'un gerçekçi ütopyacılığına öncelik verilmiş ve bugünün sorunları için bu bağlamda çözüm önerileri sunulmuştur.
Thomas Hobbes is often described as a Realist in International Relations. Such a description simply ignores Hobbes' peaceful aims. His proposals for the problems of his time can still serve as a philosophical and political basis for interpreting International Relations today. In this thesis, a new interpretation of Hobbes in terms of International Political Theory has been tried by criticizing the established connection between Realism and the English School in International Relations theories based on Hobbes' basic philosophy. In this interpretation, Hobbes' realistic utopianism was prioritized and solutions for today's problems are presented in this context.
