Özet

The human population continues to increase at an accelerating rate every year. Accordingly, technology is changing and developing. Increasing population, developing technology and continuous consumption have caused the existing natural resources to decrease and become insufficient. The main reason for the inadequacy of the resources used to meet the need for consumption is that consumption continues to increase continuously. At this point, trying to ensure the sustainability of existing resources is one of the most necessary criteria to ensure the continuity of the consumption and production cycle. Ensuring production by incorporating environmental sustainability into the process is very important for the textile industry, which consumes natural resources at many stages of the production process. In this study, turkey feathers and ostrich feathers, which are considered as animal waste, were evaluated as sustainability-based waste products by turning waste polyester and original wool fibers into a sandwich-shaped layered textile structure. After the waste materials and other textile materials were made into a quilted layered sandwich structure, thermal comfort properties were measured. Sandwich shaped structures were prepared with waste polyester and original wool fibers of different thicknesses and turkey and ostrich feathers obtained as waste. It was determined that the thermal comfort values of the obtained layered capitone structures improved with the increase in fiber thickness, the thermal comfort value decreased relatively in the structures formed with different fiber composition, and the thermal comfort value relatively improved in the structures with turkey feathers and ostrich feathers. As a result of this study, it has been shown that quilted layered structures produced from waste and recycled materials can be used in the production of thermal comfort structures. With this study, it has been seen that the utilization of waste poultry feathers is important in terms of sustainability, and it is possible to use them in cold climates and in the military field by creating plans depending on the area of use with the design and application of layered structures.
