Özet

Storytelling is a social and cultural activity. Transmedia storytelling, whose main elements include story, technology, and consumers, ensures that the previous plot is remembered by continuing the existing story and makes the audience experience the stories by identifying them with their period. An effective transmedia storytelling strategy interacts with popular culture. It produces a new perspective on the original meaning. The Sahmaran story, the subject of the study, is not only famous in Anatolia but also in many parts of the world. These legends have been known among the people from ancient times to the present day and are based on universal cultural foundations. The event patterns are continued with transmedia narration. As an example of transmedia storytelling, the Legend of Sahmaran and the Sahmaran series streamed on the Netflix platform in 2023, are analyzed by the content analysis method. It is revealed how the story fed from oral culture has changed on digital platforms and how it has moved away from its cultural story by incorporating Western elements. © 2026 by IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
