Özet
In this study, activated sludge which was collected from Isparta Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant was inactivated by boiling in 0.5 N NaOH solutions and then by autoclaving 30 minutes at 18 psi, 60 oC. Biosorption kinetic of Pb2+ ion of this biomass for different initial concentrations was determined. Consistency of experimental results to first and second-order kinetic models frequently used in literature for determining the biosorption mechanism studied, second-order kinetic model results were better than the first-order kinetic model. In addition to these methods, artificial neural network (ANN) model, commonly used in engineering problems, has been developed recently. Results obtained by ANN approach are accommodating better experimental results in comparison even to the second-order kinetic model. The ANN approach has ability to estimate the residual concentration in the solution exactly according to the present data at any time and initial concentration without any experimental study.
