Abstract
Bugün ırkçılığın bilimsel bir dayanağı olmadığı bilinen bir gerçektir. Irkçılık, hakim ideoloji veya ırk tarafından sömürülen bir ırkı ayakta tutmak için kullanılan adli ve ekonomik bir propaganda aracı olmuştur. Irkçılık var olduğu sürece toplumun birçok kesiminde farklı travmalar yaratacak ve toplumsal ilişkileri birçok yönden olumsuz etkileyecektir. Bu tez, Spike Lee'nin dört filmine odaklanmakta ve Amerikan Toplumunda ırkçılığın sosyal ilişkileri nasıl etkilediğini göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu filmler School Daze, Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever ve Get on the Bus. Bu Tez, kölelik, ırkçılık ve renkçilik gibi olguların ırklar arasındaki sosyal ve duygusal ilişkileri nasıl etkilediğini gösterirken, aynı ırk içindeki sosyal ve duygusal ilişkilere de odaklanmaktadır. Ayrıca, siyahi aile yapısının çöküşü, beyazlara yönelik önyargı, polis şiddeti ve nefreti, siyah kadınların görünmezliği, içselleştirilmiş ırkçılık, çeteleşme ve suça yatkınlık gibi siyah toplumun yaşadığı sosyal zorlukları da Kritik Irk Teorisi ışığı altında ele almaktadır.
Today, it is a well-known fact that racism does not have a scientific basis. Racism has been a judicial and economic propaganda tool used to keep a race exploited by the dominant ideology or race. As long as racism exists, it will create different traumas in many parts of the society and negatively affect social relations in many ways. This thesis focuses on four films by Spike Lee and aims to show how racism affects social relations in American Society. These movies are School Daze, Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, and Get on the Bus. While the thesis demonstrates how the phenomenon of issues such as slavery, racism and colorism affect social and emotional relations among races, it also focuses on social and emotional relations within the same race. In addition it highlights the social challenges experienced by the black community such as, the breakdown of black family structure, prejudice towards whites, police violence and hatred, invisibility of black women, internalized racism, ganging, and propensity for crime, in the light of Critical Race Theory.
